Seldon v Clarkson Wright and Jakes (A Partnership) [2012] UKSC 16
Appeal against decision that the claimant should be made to retire at 65. Appeal dismissed but remitted to the ET to consider whether the choice of a mandatory age of 65 was a proportionate means of achieving the legitimate aims of the partnership.

Appeal by respondent against EAT decision that they had unfairly dismissed the claimant as they had not complied with the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 when informing the claimant about rights to remain working beyond retirement age. Appeal dismissed.

James v Gina Shoes Ltd & Ors UKEAT/0384/11/DM
Appeal against a ruling that the claimant compensation for being unfairly dismissed should be reduced by 40% for contributory fault, and also against a finding that he had not been subject to age discrimination. Both appeals succeeded and remitted to the same Tribunal.
