Respondent's appeal against findings that the appellant had been unfairly dismissed and discriminated against. Cross appeal by the claimant against dismissal of unlawful deduction claims. The respondents' appeal failed but the claimant's appeal was partially successful and remitted.

Judgment arising from appeals in two similar cases concerning whether ill-treatment of someone who is an immigrant domestic worker can be direct discrimination. Also an appeal against finding of victimisation. Appeals on direct discrimination dismissed but the victimisation claim was remitted.

Appeal against the level of compensation awarded to the claimant after her successful claim of sex and disability discrimination, victimisation and automatic unfair dismissal. The Commissioner of Police for the Metropolis v Keohane UKEAT/0463/12/RN
Appeal against a finding that decisions to take away and then not to re-allocate a PC’s police dog to her following her maternity leave was direct discrimination. Cross-appeal against a ruling that the policy in relation to the retention, re-allocation or withdrawal of police dogs was not indirect discrimination.

Appeal against a ruling that post-termination victimisation was lawful because s108(7) of the Equality Act 2010 specifically excluded victimisation. Appeal allowed and the matter was remitted to the ET for assessment of compensation.

Appeal against an ET ruling that the claimant’s civil partner was entitled to a pension on the claimant’s death even though the claimant’s service occurred entirely prior to coming into force of the law prohibiting discrimination on the ground of sexual orientation. Appeal allowed.
