New ET claims averaging 1,500 a month

Down from 5,000 a month before fees were introduced.

The latest Employment Tribunal statistics released by the MoJ show that new employment tribunal cases are running at about 1,500 a month. That figure shows a slight rise from last year's record lows but compares with 5,000 a month in 2012 before fees were introduced.

The figures also show that 20-25% of new cases have been granted either full or partial remission of fees over the last 3 quarters.

The MoJ also notes that the average clearance time for a single claim was 29 weeks, which is apparently 24 weeks shorter than the same time last year: the drop was attributed to a review and closure of very old cases. The average clearance time for a multiple claim was 196 weeks, down from 205 weeks in the previous year.

The full report and accompanying tables can be read on the MoJ website here.
