Age Discrimination Update
Stuart Brittenden, an employment law specialist at Old Square Chambers, spoke at the Institute of Employment Rights conference on 10 October and he has kindly allowed us to reproduce a recording of his talk, along with powerpoint slides and CPD questions. Stuart gave us a talk on age discrimination and talked specifically about recent cases such as Seldon v Clarkson Wright and Jakes, Woodcock v Cumbria PCTand HM Land Registry v Benson.
R & R Plant (Peterborough) Ltd v Bailey  EWCA Civ 410
Appeal by respondent against EAT decision that they had unfairly dismissed the claimant as they had not complied with the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 when informing the claimant about rights to remain working beyond retirement age. Appeal dismissed.

Renewed application to appeal by respondent finding that the claimant had been unfairly dismissed in relation to their procedure under the age equality regulations.
